A Manhattan Upper West Side classic, the Thalia Theatre opened in 1931, as a 299-seat neighborhood movie house. Always a popular community theatre, it too closed in 1987. The real estate today is occupied by “Symphony Space,” an arts and cultural organization. Inside, it has brought the Thalia back to life by incorporating the original theater into its newly redesigned complex.
