Theatre 80 St. Marks
80 St. Marks Place
Lower East Side/East Village
(temporarily closed)
This Lower East Side landmark was one of the city’s oldest revival theatres. 80 St. Marks had 165 seats. It was owned by the Howard Otway, and then managed by the Otway Family Trust upon his death. In 2009 it was announced the Theatre 80 St. Marks would reopen as a movie theatre along with live theatre use. Open, then closed…. It is still in the family. The current operator, Lorcan Otway, is the son of the late Howard Otway. Films are projected digitally.
